The limping mummy returns after being burned in The Mummy’s Tomb. Meanwhile, a class of history students believe the monster is nothing but a legend, so we are once again spoon-fed the story of its origin and the secret to its revival. A mission is given to an Egyptian traveler to bring the mummy back from America where it already began stalking and terrorizing new victims, once more.
The creature looks mean, dressed in an elaborate costume and covered in dirt; its skin dried by preservation and its bandages hanging. The actors are a little stiff and aren't given much of a chance. Detectives and their investigation, as usual, defer attention on the mummy and throw ludicrous suspicions at obviously passive characters who couldn’t possibly commit the crimes they are accused of.
The cast is partially younger than that of the previous installments. They bring a wind of fresh air and provide a clever plot device that ties in with the monster’s motivations. One of them has Egyptian roots and magically attracts the mummy. This sequel lives up to the two previous ones but brings nothing new. It has some boring moments and the same difficulty managing pacing and suspense.
